Ft. Lauderdale, FL, October 30, 2008 - Marquis Yachts, a world class builder of premium quality luxury yachts unveiled a new 50' performance yacht on the opening day of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The new Marquis 500 Sport Bridge took center stage among the thousands of boats and yachts that were on display during the five day annual event. The new Marquis is the latest yacht from the collaborate teamwork of Venice design studio Nuvolari-Lenard Naval Architects and Marquis, America's leading builder of premium quality yachts.
The new 500 Sport Bridge features Nuvolari-Lenard signature style lines made possible through Marquis' innovative use of multi-dimensional composite molding technology. This proprietary process allowed the designers to incorporate numerous integrated complex curves into the design of the yacht's hull and superstructure. Fiberglass molding technology and rigid construction specifications make this yacht not only beautiful but incredibly strong as well. The Marquis 500 Sport Bridge is certified in Design Category 'A' - Ocean by the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI). This is the highest "Design Category" rating for recreational craft in the EU .
An extra large transom platform is used to board the yacht while at dockside. The transom platform is designed to accommodate the storage of a PWC or launch. Access to the yacht's cockpit is gained through port or starboard transom gates. And the already roomy cockpit can be expanded another 18" by extending the transom further aft with a push of a button. The brilliant design of this function creates additional space in the cockpit without reducing the size of the transom platform.
From the cockpit proceed to the fly bridge designed for relaxation, conversation and enjoying drinks and a snack. This is a special place to command the vessel. For those along for the cruise there are numerous places to sit, recline or lounge. The helmsman and mate will enjoy the ride while seated in the contoured seats that have been custom made by Marquis. The impressively detailed helm panel is designed for function and style. While on the bridge, look forward and you'll see an inviting sun pad on the yacht's foredeck. This truly is a yacht designed for relaxing and lounging in the sun.
The transition from the cockpit to the cabin is easily gained through the tri-fold aft bulkhead doors. These doors open to create a single environment which includes the yacht's cockpit, lower helm, salon and galley. Panoramic cabin windows provide a 360° view while they also let the sun illuminate the yacht's interior. The salon, galley and cockpit are all on the same floor level making the 500 Sport Bridge unique among all other brands of yachts. The yacht can be outfitted with an interior constructed from select cherry hardwood or highly figured zebrano imported from central Africa.
The 500 Sport Bridge's three separate staterooms (providing accommodations for six) are located in the forward section of the vessel. There are also two heads on board, each with its own stylish vessel sink, designer fixtures and stall shower.
The luckiest person on board is the one who gets to drive this performance yacht because it is equipped with three powerful Volvo diesel engines that utilize the innovative joystick controlled IPS drive system. The hull shape of the 500 Sport Bridge has been specifically designed and tested to maximize the performance of this triple IPS engine installation. Handling is precise, responsive and thrilling for all those aboard. With a top speed of 37 knots (when equipped with Volvo 600 series, 435 hp engines) the master of the yacht will look forward to every opportunity to advance the throttles and feel the power.
